Bows.
On my first hunt in Namibia I used a 70 pound Parker Ezdraw. With that bow I harvested a mountain Zebra, Red hartebeest and a Springbook. Easton aluminium 2413 arrows. Silverflame 2 blade broadhead. Arrow shelf, trophy taker shakey hunter. Toxonics 3 pin sight.
The Ezdraw somehow dropped five pounds so it was actually only 65 pounds (measured on four different scales) and that is barely enough for the tough African animals as the Ezdraw is a low speed bow. Even with a razor sharp Silverflame I was not happy with the penetration on any of the animals but good placement did the job. The Ezedraw is wonderful to draw and a very accurate bow that I enjoy shooting and I must give credits to Parker that sent me new limbs so I got it up to 70 pounds.

Then I bought a Bowtech Allegiance 80 pounds that I set for 74 pounds. I kept my 2413 Eastons and Shakey hunter. Broadheads Muzzy four blades, Nap Scorpion and Tekan. I used my Allegiance for a little more than three years. It is powerful enough for even the huge Eland. The penetration on the Eland I shot was all the way trough the body. Arrow stopped in contact with the bone in the frontleg and NAP Scorpion broadhead broke clean off, that much power was still in the arrow!! The Allegiance is a workhorse without comparison. With the Allegiance I have crawled, fallen, dropped it, used it as an aid in crawling, shortly I have abused it in the worst kind of ways and it looks like shit but never lets me down. The only thing that is missing is pinpoint accuracy, I did not manage to get it to shoot as good as I want! Accuracy was good enough, three arrows in the palm of your hand at 30 meters but I want it a little bit better.

2008 I bought a Bowtech General and it is a sweet thing to shoot, fast enough and deadly accurate. Will come back with rapport on how well it did in Southafrica after this years hunt in februari. So check in in march for a full rapport.
